Did you know thaht love is born in the brain

Did you know thaht love is born in the brain

It’s for sure that somebody has told us at least once that “love is blind”, one of the most used expressions to refer to the irrational behavior when you are in love.

he curious thing is that scientists have validated this well-known saying. Through the study of brain scans, where is observed the processing of emotional regulation, motivation and reward, it is found that the first time we fall in love, the serotonin levels plummet and the reward centers are flooded with dopamine. That is, we have negative emotions and critical judgment completely turned off. In contrast, in peak activity, sex hormones such as testosterone soar and can disorient us more than normal. It is a like a highly addictive drug effect, in which twelve areas of the brain are involved as is the case of perception. Hence, it is possible that we can become addicted to a person.

When we are taken with someone, our brain learns to secrete a large quantity of substances that produce an acute state of ecstasy, which comes suddenly. Through specialists like Dr. Stephanie Ortigue, neuroscience has found that only takes half a second to fall in love, the time our brain needs to release the neurotransmitter molecules that generate the different emotional responses. According to the anthropologist Helena Fisher, neuronal activity is different depending on whether it is attachment, love or sexual desire, so that our brain is not activated in the same way in lasting relationships as in the first stages of love. Oxytocin and vasopressin appear to be crucial for the long-term relationships. Beyond its appearance or personality, the truth is that the brain falls in love with the smell of people who have combinations of the immune system molecules different from themselves. This also forms a combination that is the correct mix of immune genes that are critical for the survival of future descendants. The right hemisphere is the area of love because it is larger than the left and is responsible for processing feelings and emotions.
