Twenty nine years ago, Nespresso was the first to develop the concept of premium coffee provided and patented a unique system to master to perfection the process of preparing an espresso coffee; from the selection of the most exotic coffee beans to the exquisite moment of tasting.

Everything is born from the harvest of coffee in an ideal land, collection and selection of the perfect ripe cherry. The post harvest treatment is also important because it influences the quality of green coffee bean, which is rigorously tested before being loaded.

At this stage, Nespresso is served from buyers, which meticulously taste coffee and visually evaluate its physical characteristics to determine the appropriate grain for Nespresso.

Nespresso Experts in green coffee join producers and traders in tasting sessions of green coffee which, together, analyze and evaluate the quality profiles and aroma looking for Nespresso.

Only coffee accepted are the ones to be sent to production ceter loaded, Switzerland.

Once in the factory, coffee is again subjected to quality tests where aspects such as size, color and density are inspected.

Only the best 1% of green coffee in the world fulfills the specific aromatic profiles, specific flavors and high quality standards of Nespresso.

After selection and approval of coffee, the grain goes through the process of roasting and grinding. Hence the perfect combinations of cream, body and flavor are created. This is the time of creation of the Nespresso Grands Crus, recipes packed in sealed capsules to ensure perfect portion of a fresh and aromatic coffee. But, how can proper extraction be guaranteed?


Nespresso engineers came up with the technology to standardize the processes of extraction.

This is the machines’ exclusive extraction system, which controls the water pressure (up to 19 bars), its temperature and distribution evenly within the capsule.

The first Nespresso machines, called “classic” were inspired by the traditional model of capsule case of professional barista. Since then, Nespressono stopped innovation by creating pure design objects combining aesthetics and cutting edge and user-friendly engineering.
