Blue Flag Hoisting Ceremony 2016-2017 Paradisus Resorts in the Dominicana Republic
In the Dominican Republic, the Paradisus Resorts win once again the Blue Flag certification. The beach sections of both hotels, Paradisus Punta Cana & Paradisus Palma Real Resort, have been awarded 3rd and 5th year respectively for the period 2016-2017.
The international Blue Flag program www.blueflag.org is an award given to those beaches and marinas that comply with specific standards on properly managed.
In this new season, Mr. Rodrigo Silveyra, General Manager of the Hotel Paradisus Punta Cana welcomed the participants to the official Blue Flag hoisting ceremony at his property on behalf of the Paradisus Resorts in Punta Cana. He emphasized on the support of all those present, hotels collaborators and the Institute of Environmental Law that made possible to win this important prize. He reaffirmed the commitment to keep it.
Mr. Cesar Vargas Pimentel, President of IDARD, thanked Mr. Conrad Bergwerf Managing Director of the Paradisus in the DR, Mr. Rodrigo Silveyra and Mrs. Sandra Blum for giving the opportunity to share this achievement in their Resorts, and took advantage to recognize Jannin Soto, Director of Sustainable Tourism for her job and for being one of the most committed and passionate people among the program partners in the Dominican Republic. He highlighted the advantages of having a BA beach and explained that it is also a space dedicated to the conservation and development of ecosystems. He approved the fact that Dominican biodiversity is promoted within the hotel, when the sea turtles, an endangered species, were used for the sand sculpture next to the Blue Flag logo. He concluded by saying that Paradisus chain has some of the best certified beaches and urged people to carry on promoting sustainable tourism.
